INDUSTRIAL

Industrial uses have the potential to generate very high noise levels that are often intermittent or tonal in nature. Depending on the equipment and the proximity to noise and vibration sensitive areas, noisy equipment and activities can result in incompatible environments if not properly designed.

I&R consults on a variety of industrial noise and vibration problems providing measurement services, criteria selection, and design development to develop solutions for equipment that generate high noise levels in an effort to protect facility personnel or neighbors. Existing equipment is assessed through a combination of monitoring at the site and detailed evaluation of the existing noise and vibration generating equipment and environment. To assess new uses, noise modeling and/or calculations based on manufacturers specifications are used. Typical projects include wineries, quarries, cogeneration power plants, and refineries.
